On the water plant front, we have received a letter from the DEP giving us the ability
to "incur costs" toward the new water plant. This is a big step in that we will be allowed to
move forward on the plant knowing that we will be reimbursed for what we spend toward the
plant. Also the permitting process is moving along nicely in that we have received intent to
issue a permit for the water plant.
On to the Withlacoochee Gulf Preserve/Pathways project which had its
preconstruction conference last week with the successful bidder Cabot Construction. The
construction phase of this project is now officially underway. I would like to remind everyone
of our iron study. Preliminary results have found that the iron in the water distribution system
is at acceptable levels and that there is no wide spread problem in the distribution mains.
However we understand that some customers believe that they do have a high iron problem.
It is possible that this may be a localized problem that is unique to a specific customer's
service connection. If you have what appears to be an excessive amount of iron in your water,
please contact Town Hall (447-2511). We would like to test the water at your location in an
ongoing effort to assess our water distribution system. We look forward to working together
with our customers to resolve any problems.
