"Searching for the Truth"
Carolyn May (Pease) Shimer, died peacefully, surrounded by family, after a short
hospitalization on November 20, 2013 in Lecanto Fl. She was born June 17, 1941, the
daughter of Royden and Alberta Pease of Cornish, ME. She graduated from Cornish HS

Inglis Mayor's Report
The Trunk of Treats Festival was a big success. Thanks to all of you who came out
for an evening of fun and to Ruth & Frieda for all their hard work, both in organizing the
Festival and on the day of the Festival. We had a great time!
We've had a rash of street sign thefts lately - have you noticed? The thieves seem
to be working between 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. Please call 911 if you see anything suspi-
cious.
One of the complaints I heard when I took office was that the Town wasn't giv-
ing everyone a fair shot when it came to hiring. Last week, the Commission decided to get
more involved in the hiring process - going forward, we'll be advertising and seeking to hire
the most qualified people for our job openings and the Commission will be involved in the
review and selection process.
A number of Inglis Police Department badges were ordered without the Commis-
sion's knowledge in the last couple of months of the Department's operations, including
badges for people who'd left the Department some time ago. The Commission has directed
the Town Attorney to investigate the matter and report his findings.
Now that the Water Board is up and running, it's time we get our Code Enforce-
ment Board formed. We've had some volunteers to serve on the Board - you know who you
are and thank you! - but they' will need help. If you're willing to serve, please stop by Town
Hall and see me - if I'm not there, leave your name and phone number with Staff and I'll
give you a call. Code enforcement is important - it protects property values and improves
our quality of life.
Our Christmas Parade will be on Saturday, December 7th. While the IRC is han-
dling the planning, they can use some help - stop by Town Hall if you can give them a hand.
Please come by and see me at Town Hall or give me a call if you have any ques-
tions, concerns or complaints. While we may not always agree, we should be able to dis-
cuss the issues facing our town in a reasonable manner - we work for you and want to know
what you think. Finally - have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
