“a large amount of meth manufacturing equipment, paraphernalia, and methamphetamine,”
said Rogers.
Smith and Ford were each charged with possession/trafficking methamphetamine,
14 grams or more ($100,000 bond); producing methamphetamine ($75,000 bond), posses-
sion of listed chemicals for the manufacture of a controlled substance ($25,000 bond) and
possess/use drug equipment ($15,000 bond). Smith was additionally charged with posses-

ties were nearby when the two pulled the armed robbery of Brad’s Food and Gas. Deputies
pursued the men throughout the Highlands area until Calderon crashed the getaway vehicle
into a tree, and the men were taken into custody.
This case was prosecuted as a part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe
Neighborhoods program - a nationwide, gun-violence reduction strategy led by the Bureau
of ATFE. U.S. Attorney Robert E. O’Neill, along with Delano Reid, Acting Special Agent
in Charge, Bureau of ATFE, is coordinating the Project Safe Neighborhoods efforts in the
Middle District of Florida, with the cooperation of federal, state, and local law enforcement
agencies.
