The Town of Inglis, AmVets Post 447 (Inglis), American Legion Post 236 (Bronson)

and the Town of Yankeetown sponsored the 2014 Levy County Veterans Day Parade held

on Saturday, November 8th through downtown Inglis. The 50 parade entries from Inglis,

Yankeetown, Bronson, Chiefland, Fanning Springs, Williston, Beverly Hills, Lecanto and

Crystal River delighted spectators for 1 1/2 miles.The Grand Marshall's (six WW II veter-

ans), were honored after the parade in a ceremony which also included the dedication of the

South Levy Veterans Memorial. A special treat was to have Inglis local Army PFC Levi

Daniel home on leave to hoist the flag in his dress blues. The ceremony included the singing

of the National Anthem (Sally Haley), speeches from elected officials (Mayor Kirkland and

Representative Yoho's office) an award to Lucille McCarthy for 50 plus years of service to

the VFW, a presentation of 145 lap quilts by the Sew - N - Sews (Drinda Merritt) to the DAV

for the Veterans Home in Lake City, a presentation of Medal of Honor and WW II first day

of issue frames by the Inglis Post Office to the AmVets Post 447 and VFW Post 8698, a 21
