Manatee Season officially began in
November, and with Crystal River s Kings Bay
being home to the largest aggregation of mana-
tees in a natural environment in the world, area
residents should know how to share the water-
ways to protect our slow moving, beloved sea
cows.
Proper etiquette in interacting with
manatees; the do nots: *Do not disturb or touch
a resting or feeding manatee. *Do not dive onto
a manatee. *Do not corner or surround a mana-
tee. * Do not ride, hold, grab, pinch, poke, prod or stab a manatee. *Do not stand on a
manatee. *Do not separate a mother and calf. *Do not feed manatees. *Do not interfere with
rescue and research activities. *Do not interact with tagged manatees or tamper with satellite
devices; this is a federal offense.
