Halloween Safety
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention, children
are four times more likely to be in fatal pedestrian accidents on Halloween than any
other night. To ensure everyone has a safe Halloween, Levy County Department of
Public Safety (LCDPS) recommends following these guidelines;
Watch for children walking on roadways, medians, and curbs.
Watch for children dressed in dark clothing.
Avoid using distracting devices while driving (electronics and other devices).
Encourage children to travel in familiar, well-lit areas.
Teach children to NEVER enter a stranger s home.
Use costumes that are visible at night.
Provide children with flashlights.
Inspect treats for hazards before allowing children to eat them.
Avoid homemade treats.
Ensure costumes fit well to avoid tripping.
