Inglis Commission News & Notes
From the October 6 Regular Meeting
Inglis Town Attorney Fugate told the Inglis commission at the last meeting that
the Supreme Court made a ruling that affects almost every sign code in the USA. Fugate
told the commission that if any sign violations come before the town, contact him first. He
needed to look at our ordinances and bring back amendments to Inglis sign codes putting
them in compliance to the new rulings .
Attorney Fugate also stated that the doing away with the Withlacoochee Regional
Planning Council and putting us in the North Central Florida Regional Planning Council
had some changes. Bruce Day from the WRPC would come to our meetings but the new
district does not come to you .It was recommended that Ralph Walker contact the new dis-
trict before we commit to join. A town can hire a private planner but it is more expensive
and $16,000 has been budgeted.
Attorney Fugate said the new fire agreement with the county has been sent to
Inglis, replacing the old one from 2007 and adding $20,000 for Inglis to cover territory va-
cated when South Levy Fire Department was eliminated. Commissioner White was the nay
vote with Morin, Webb and Kesterson voting to accept the contract as written.
