Yankeetown Mayor's Report
A Guest Commentary by Yankeetown Mayor Dawn Clary
Congrats - Our Zoning Official Kurt Woerner has passed his test to become a Certi-
fied Flood Plain Manager. The certification is granted by the Association of State Flood-
plain Managers INC, ASFPM. With the departure of former ZO, Chris Fineout from the
town’s team, we were in need of this service. Flood management certification is required
for review of building projects for flood issue compliance and without his certification, we
would have to outsource this job. Yankeetown maintains its own zoning office. This is
another service provided by your taxes.
Port Citrus Presentation - I attended the presentation given at the Inglis Town meet-
ing by Citrus County Commissioner Dennis Damato, concerning the proposal of a port on
the barge canal. It was mentioned that there may be a possibility of the Inglis area hooking
into the sewer system which would be run up from Crystal River to the port, should the port
become a reality. The project is still too early to have any hard data but I do have the power
point presentation that was given at a previous meeting. This presentation gives some in-
sight into the project such as the “Port Planning Area”. It details the economic impact of
