Western-themed festival in Hernando, Oct. 18
If you are interested in a fun day, with an old-timey western flair, come to Hernando
Wildlife park invites spooky scenarios for haunted tram rides
on Sat., Oct. 18, from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., to attend the "Southern Heritage Festival

Participating businesses will be given a location on the Pepper Creek Trail to deco-
rate with their own spooky setup. Guidelines and applications are available at the park of-
fice. There is no charge to sponsor a location. Locations will be judged for a variety of
awards. This is a great community relations project and all participating sponsors will be
recognized. Guidelines and applications for a Spooky Scenario location are available Mon-
day through Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the park office or call (352) 628-5343,

New Household Hazardous Waste Drop Off Program Dates & Times
The county has expanded its free Household Hazardous Waste drop-off program
for residents to coincide with the paint disposal program days on Tuesdays, Thursdays and
Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Materials will be accepted only in original containers, and
only up to 60 pounds total per visit will be accepted per household. Information is on the
Landfill Information sign on State Road 44. Residents may also call Solid Waste Manage-
ment at 527-7670 during working hours for information.
Rails To Trail Bike Ride Part Of Greenways & Trails Month
INVERNESS- The 14th Annual Rails to Trails of the Withlacoochee Bike Ride, hosted by
the Rails to Trails of the Withlacoochee Citizen Support Organization, will take place Sun-
day, October 5. The one-day bike ride is one of the largest in the Southeast United States
and will be held on the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of
Greenways & Trails Withlacoochee State Trail.
Riders can choose their own biking distances ranging from one to 100 miles along the
paved, 46-mile converted railroad corridor. Participants can begin the ride anytime be-
tween 7:00 - 9:00 a.m.; registration is $25.00. A continental breakfast and light lunch will
