Citrus County Sheriff's Office, Oct. 1, charged with misdemeanor petit retail theft, with his
bond set at $1,000. The report stated that a loss prevention officer at the Lecanto Walmart
followed Candelario when he displayed suspicious behavior while in the electronics de-
partment. The report stated that the officer allegedly saw Candelario take a television wall
mount, a box of Luvs diapers and a watch, then left the store through the garden center
without paying for the items. Store surveillance from Sept. 29 was compared to that day's
surveillance, and it was determined hat Candelario had also stolen a television set on Sept.
29. That day's merchandise was returned to the store, but Candelario said he'd sold the TV
in exchange for 5 grams of cocaine, but would not identify the person who had purchased
the TV.
Brandy Nicole Maulden, 37, Inverness, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's
Office, Oct. 1, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
According to the victim and one of the two witnesses, the weapon was a knife, but accord-
ing to Maulden, the weapon was a spoon. The second witness said that she did not see the
weapon, as she was hiding behind the sofa during the argument and did not see the entire
incident. She did say, however, that Maulden had grabbed an object from a kitchen drawer
before confronting the victim. Maulden said that the victim was disrespectful by speaking
to her in a profane manner, which angered her, so she hit him over the head with a spaghetti
spoon, then went for a walk when the three other people in the home pushed her outside. The
victim stated that Maulden had been drinking and arguing all day prior to the incident. She
was held without bond.
