Novel Idea for a New Year's Party
Try Cardboard Cutouts (see photos left)
Marilyn's idea - toughest part was getting the cardboard - we had Sear's, Lowe's
and Home Depot calling us when they received a large refrigerator - most of the time,
someone had folded it before we got there!
How it's Done
C.H. Crockett said "We made a pattern each for the men and women (Marilyn
and Matt), then cut with razor knife, leaving extra leg sizes to fold back for the stands - I
took face pictures of the staff and printed them as large as I could on 8 1/2 x 11 photo
paper. Marilyn cut them out and pasted them on. Then she painted the socks, shorts and
skirts, and we bent the arms so we could put their shirts on. We covered the front door so
no one could see in, so they were surprised when we opened the doors at 5 (we had started
the party outdoors a little after 4, with people shooting basketball, trying to throw a foot-
ball through a tire, trying to chip a golf ball into a bucket and enjoying beer/sodas from a
tailgate). All in all, a lot of planning and trouble, but definitely worth it! Well received!"
