Crash in Rainbow Lakes Estates
Remembering the past
kills Dunnellon man
A single-vehicle crash in Rainbow Lakes Estates, Marion County, Dec. 29, resulted
in the death of the driver, 70 year-old James G. Neal of Dunnellon. According to the Florida
Highway Patrol, Mr. Neal was driving a 1995 Toyota Tacoma, west on Indian Hill Dr. at
Pineapple Hill Dr., and lost control of his vehicle.
The report stated that Neal drove onto the north shoulder of the road, overcorrected
to the left, re-entered the roadway, traveled southwest across both lanes of the road onto the
south shoulder, while trying to gain control of his vehicle, and the front of his vehicle col-
lided with a power pole, breaking it in half. The vehicle turned onto its left side and stopped
just west of the power pole, facing north. Mr. Neal sustained fatal injuries in the crash and
was pronounced deceased by Marion County Fire & Rescue Paramedic Derek White at
11:40 a.m. and transported to the Leesburg Medical Examiner s Office.
Inglis man accused of battering woman
in church parking lot
Chris M. Obry, 20, of Park St., Inglis, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s
Department, Dec. 23, charged with the misdemeanor battery of a woman in a church park-
