Man Arrested for
Child Abuse and
Domestic Battery
A 22-year-old Homosassa man was
arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Of-
fice, Jan. 21, related to an incident that oc-
curred on Jan. 18.
According to the
arrest report, just before 5:30
p.m. on Jan. 18, a deputy on
patrol in Homosassa came
across a car, that had no
lights on, parked in the
middle of a street. As the Nicholas McGahen
deputy got out of his patrol
car to see if anyone was inside the vehicle, he
heard yelling from a nearby mobile home and
went there to investigate.
A woman stated told the deputy that
she had gotten into a fight with Nicholas
Austen McGahen, of Homosassa, as they
were driving home from visiting one of her
relatives. She said that McGahen had begun
smacking her on the head, and that he had
also burned her on the arm with his cigarette
lighter. The deputy reported that the woman
had swelling on the right side of her face and
"two distinct burn marks" on her right arm.
When they had returned to a resi-
dence, she said, McGahen had continued to
"talk down" to her, and when she'd decided
to leave, McGahen had attempted to take a
small child out out the vehicle, which she had
