With Your Support
The Y/I Woman’s Club
Makes a Difference
By Helen Ciallella,YIWC President
For the past 45 years, the YIWC has
quietly and tirelessly worked to benefit
and serve our two communities with edu-
cational support for student scholarships,
and the AF Knotts Public Library which
is owned and maintained by the Woman’s
Club. Over the years, the YIWC has pro-
vided nearly $80,000 in tuition scholar-
ships to the students of the Yankeetown
School. As a result of those scholarships
we are proud to say there are some PHD’s,
a few Masters Degrees and lots of kids with
decent jobs because of YIWC fund raising
activities and your enthusiastic support.
The source for scholarship funding is
our regular Thursday Night Bingo which
has been ongoing since 1969. If you’re
up for some really good eats, including
fresh burgers, homemade soups, pies and
cakes you should come by the club house
around 6:00 PM on Thursdays and eat sup-
per for way under five bucks. If you want
to add some fun and camaraderie with your
