This photo is the Girl Scout Float, which won 2nd place in the Inglis Christmas parade and
festival December 21st.
From the Inglis Christmas parade/festival: This photo is the tail end of the first place float
built of nearly 90% repurposed materials by Scooter Haven Country Club (the parade theme
was "A Repurposed Christmas").
Many thanks go out to the hundreds of people that donated time, money, cookies
or toys to help make the 2013 Inglis Christmas Parade and Festival quite a success. Spec-
tators lining the streets got quite an eyeful of "repurposed" materials as floats, cars and
trucks illuminated the asphalt in the inaugural night parade. In the Float category, Scooter
Haven Country Club received first place, The Girl Scouts second, and the S & H Iron Horse
Express, third. The "Pipe, Percussion & Drum" contest winners were Silver Bullets' (Sh-
eryl Pirzer gang) first ($100), Yankeetown Girls Basketball second ($75), and Yankeetown
Boys Basketball third ($50). "Skeeter" Fizz (Grand Marshall) and Helen Ciallella (Out-
standing Citizen) cruised while horses, 20 other entries and Santa brought up the rear. At
the Festival, after downing some punch, cookies, and all inclusive cupcakes, youngsters
could take a trip to see Santa! Over 150 toys and 9 bicycles were given away. Some even
had a chance to get in the Christmas Maze and visit Mrs. Clause and her elf. What a fun,
noisy and crazy time!! It's such a generous community in which we live. Thank you
again, Ruth A Ruppert, Parade Chair, IRC member.
