Visitors & Convention Bureau Seeking Volunteers
Citrus County Visitors & Convention Bureau is currently accepting applications for
volunteers who enjoy meeting and greeting new people and have a willingness to work with
others at the new welcome center located in Crystal River.
Volunteers would be welcoming visitors from around the world and working to
help make Citrus County a top-notch vacation destination. Volunteer opportunities include
greeters, light clerical work, answering phones, directing guests to local establishments,
historical sites, museums and more.

Citrus County Department of Public Works has named Henry Norris
as the new Solid Waste Management Director

Norris comes to Citrus County after serving as the Solid Waste Director for Avery
        
County, North Carolina for the past 15 years. During his time as Solid Waste Director in
            
North Carolina, Norris worked on various projects, in coordination with the NC Wildlife
                 
Resource Commission, Army Corp of Engineers and NC Water and Land Quality success-
            
fully permitted a landfill under-drain system that accommodates a natural stream that dis-
       
charges into designated trout waters, a waste relocation project, implementation of a house-
           
hold hazardous waste program and implementation of single-stream recycling.
       
He has conducted waste contract negotiations resulting in considerable cost savings and

obtained several grant awards to improve Solid Waste services. Additional related employ-

ment includes 6 years with the Raytheon Corporation as the Hazardous waste Administrator

for the (AUTEC) project or Atlantic Undersea Test & Evaluation Center.

