Thrift Store Opening Supports
Animals in Dixie County
Come join the friends, volunteers and members of the Dixie County Humane So-
ciety, on Sunday September 21st from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m., as they celebrate the opening of
their new thrift store. The event will not only be showcasing the store, located at 26885 NE
Highway 19 in Old Town, but will also be the first, of what is hoped to be an annual, fund
raising event.
Following the Grand Opening Ceremonies at noon, participants will be able to
visit with local authors and purchase signed copies of their books. They will be able to dine
on delicious barbecued chicken dinners. Maybe pick up some great reading material at the
used book sale or try their luck at a Chinese Auction. How about taking home some deli-
cious treats from either the bake sale or doggie deli? Or just bring a chair, grab a shady
corner, and listen to some great live music.
Staff from the Shamrock Veterinary Clinic will be there to answer your pet related
questions. Membership forms for joining the Dixie County Humane Society will be avail-
able, with volunteers on hand to answer questions about membership. Containers will be set
up that day for donations of unopened dry or canned cat and dog food. Remember, your
donations are tax deductible.
Best of all, if you are looking for a four-legged friend to bring some sunshine into
your life, staff will be there to assist with pet adoptions. Volunteers are always welcome, so
if you would like to help with the event, just call the Humane Society at 352-542-1081.
