sibly ephedrine), a plastic bowl with white residue (tested positive for ephedrine) and a mea-
suring cup “typical in methamphetamine manufacturing.” Wilder and Arnold both told the
deputy there was nothing inside the vehicle, and he was welcome to check, but the deputy
replied he did not need their permission due to the overpowering smell of the meth cook.
According to the report: The deputy separated the men and told Wilder he knew
they’d been manufacturing meth inside the car. Wilder asked, if he helped the deputy, would
the deputy work with him? The deputy told Wilder he could make no promises, but he would
do his best. Wilder said he and Arnold had manufactured meth during the day, and Arnold
had hidden the meth cook in the woods on Rooster Crow’s Rd. prior to the traffic stop.
Wilder took the deputy to the area where he’d stopped for Arnold to remove the cook from
the car. The deputy found a full container of Red Devil lye. Wilder said to look nearby, likely
behind a tree, for a white plastic bag which contained the cook (a brownish liquid) that was
in a tea or juice bottle with a red lid with a pop-up spout and a 32-ounce Gator Aid bottle
that contained a clear liquid. The deputy found a book bag, smelling of a meth cook, behind
a tree in the area where he’d found the lye. Inside, he found the two containers, which both
tested positive for meth, and a black zippered pouch containing a box of pH testing strips, a
bottle of acid and a small head lamp.
The arrest report detailed a recorded interview with Wilder: Arnold had picked
him up and told him he (Wilder) would be driving him around. At the K-Mart in Crystal
River, they purchased the pH test strips Arnold said he would need to complete the meth
cook. They went to the general area where the cook was found, then to a residence in a
Mobile Home Park where the final chemicals for the cook were added. When the cook was
completed, Arnold retrieved the completed meth and placed the meth oil into the Gator Aid
bottle, then placed the Gator Aid bottle and the one-pot cook into the white bag. He drove
Arnold to the area where the cook was later found. Arnold went into the wood line with the
white bag and returned without it. They drove to Inglis to get something to eat, turned down
River Rd. and saw the deputy. Arnold said that he and the deputy know one another, so for
Wilder to go, quickly! When the deputy turned around to follow them, Arnold told Wilder
to lose him because he had s--- on him. Wilder, afraid, said he wanted to stop, but Arnold
threatened Wilder and his family. Wilder did not know where the completed meth was that
Arnold had on his person, but he thought Arnold may have thrown it from the vehicle.
Wilder was released, pending further investigation. Arnold was charged with traf-
ficking in meth more that 700 grams (736 grams of meth oil), manufacturing a controlled
substance with intent to sell, possession of listed chemical with intent to manufacture a
controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Citrus
County Detention Facility where his bond was set at $200,500.
