Yankeetown Mayor's Report
ANNUAL MEETING
A Guest Commentary by Yankeetown Mayor Dawn Clary
The Dream Doesn’t Stop Here Anymore- - Years and years ago, there was an idea
to designate CR 40 as “Follow That Dream” Boulevard from Hwy 19 to the end of the

road, in memorial to Elvis Presley and the movie filmed here. Inglis did adopt the name but
Yankeetown did not agree to continue the designation through the YT jurisdiction and it
stopped at the Inglis/Yankeetown line prompting a lot of jokes. I’ll never forget the sign that
read “the dream stops here” at the town line. However, the Town Council has voted to adopt
the name for CR40 through Yankeetown. Hopefully, we will be able to have some type of
ribbon cutting ceremony during the Chamber of Commerce’s Elvis celebration. Details are
not firmed up on this yet.
