John Murray Davis Now On Display at Inverness Court House
The free multimedia exhibit Living Waters: Aquatic Preserves of Florida, fea-
turing the work of photographer Clyde Butcher, will be on display now through December
31st, 2009 at the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has created a unique and
artistic documentary and display of Florida’s Aquatic Preserves. The goal of this exhibition
and documentary is to promote the protection and public awareness of the state’s coastal
resources. The exhibit includes a collection of 21 of Butcher’s fine art photographic im-
ages. Ranging as large as 40 by 56 inches, Butcher captures the beauty of a dozen different
aquatic preserves throughout the state. These striking black-and-white photos include one of
Citrus County’s very own, St. Martin’s Aquatic Preserve, with approximately 23,000 acres
of an incredible, ecologically diverse eco-system.
Butcher’s work has been awarded the Ansel Adams Conservation Award, Best
Florida Artist Award and the Everglades Coalition Award. Butcher was also honored by the
national magazine Popular Photography as being one of four artists named in the article,
“Who is the next Ansel Adams?” and he was previously named as one of the Top 100 Most
Influential People in Florida.
