Driving Within an Inch of My Life
I’m here to tell you flat out
there’s one thing we in America
take for granted every day, driv-
ing. Having toured around Ire-
land and the UK for a fortnight, I
have a pretty good right-handed
driving perspective to squawk
about. I’m lucky to be writing this; actually
my traveling companion Bill Nelson and I are
lucky to be alive.
We arrived in Dublin at about 5am
Dublin time (which was 11:00pm our body’s
time.. tired) and after signing the paperwork
that promised we’d be held completely non-
responsible for any damages to our car (at an
additional cost of $34/day I might add), it was
exactly 7 minutes walking time from the termi-
nal until I lost the toss and almost killed us by
driving on the wrong side of the road… the
first time.
In my defense, almost thirty years
of driving on the left side and being a licensed
