Some Water Restrictions Lifted – You may have noticed that we have gotten a lot of rain
lately. This has allowed Southwest Florida Water Management to lift the more stringent
water restrictions for our area. These were put in place due to the severe water shortage that
we experienced due to the drought. However, water conservation measures that are what’s
called the “Modified Phase I “ are still in effect.  This means that lawn watering is still re-
stricted to twice a week. SFWMD has a web site where you can check out information on
this and other water matters.
Opening on YT Planning and Zoning Commission – The Yankeetown P&Z Commission
is looking for another member. This is your chance to get involved and provide an important
function for the community. You may have noticed that Yankeetown is very sensitive about
its zoning. The P&Z is the main burner on the town’s vision. Contact the hall if interested.
Opening on the Council – There will also be an opening on the Town Council as we will
appoint a Mayor from the current council leaving an opening. If you got the intestinal for-
titude, sign up at the hall.
New Tree Ordinance – The P&Z had submitted a total rewrite of the YT tree ordinance to
the YT Council for approval hearings. The first hearing was to be at the last meeting on the
20th. However there were so many comments that the YT Council sent the tree ordinance
back to the P&Z for review of the comments for possible inclusion in the ordinance Good
