Floral City bank robbery
Already in federal custody for robbing a bank in Plant City, 46 year-old
Elizabeth Perkins, of Brooksville, was additionally charged with the armed
robbery of the Floral City Brannen Bank on March 24, 2015, along with one
charge of moving people during the robbery. She was indicted by a grand jury
in Pinellas County in August.
Crime scene technicians were able to lift a fingerprint from a disinfectant
Perkins
spray and make a female DNA designation from a paper cup in the bathroom.
However, Perkins fingerprints yielded no results by way of AFIS (Automat-
ed Fingerprint Identification System).
In June, an informant came forward, naming Perkins as being involved in both
bank robberies. At this time, the CCSO s latent fingerprint examiner determined that Per-
kins employment fingerprints and the fingerprints on the paper cup left behind at the Bran-
nen Bank were a match. Perkins photo was identified in a photo lineup as the bank robber
by witnesses to the Brannen Bank robbery.
When it was determined that the two bank robberies were related, the FBI took the
lead on the case. On July 7, the Citrus County Sheriff s Office assisted the FBI with a search
warrant at Perkinas' Brooksville. Perkins, at which time she was arrested for the Plant City
bank robbery.
