"Road Rage"
in Dunnellon
With Doug Johnston
For months we
suffered  through  road
construction in Dunnel-
lon. As DOT ripped up
US Highway 41 through
that city it became a game trying to find
shortcuts through alleys, parking lots and
even patches of woods to get through town
without waiting in long lines of traffic held
up by heavy equipment doing their job.
Once the construction had finally
finished I thought my life would be much
easier. My daily trip from my home in
Rainbows End to my work in Inglis would
no longer be a stressful journey through
Dunnellon. Was I ever wrong!
The planners did a good job map-
ping out the changes in the road through
Dunnellon except for one detail. The two
lanes heading north out of Dunnellon
quickly merge into one lane just past the
light in front of Wal Mart. I can’t begin to
relate how many times I have seen some
driver come barreling past a line of cars
passing through that red light then cut
abruptly in front of someone to get back
Around 2:15, August 11, Citrus County deputies apprehended John Campbell at the Hernando/Citrus county line, following a high-speed chase
into the left lane. On more than one oc-
