Community Agencies Reachout As
Part of National Night Out
The event, last week was designed to heighten drug prevention and awareness,
encourage and teach safety, promote a positive relationship between the police and the
community and to strenthen community bonds, was sponsored by the Inglis Police De-
partment and RABAC. According to Inglis Police Officer Brian Hilberer, the turnout was
good. The police department, along with other groups such as the Inglis Fire and Rescue
and Yankeetown Fire and Rescue department and others, included displays and demonstra-
tions. The K-9 demonstrations with K-9 Boston and K-9 Officer Tim Swiggett and other
officers were especially popular with the children. Representatives from the various agen-
cies milled about in the crowd, both inside the gaily and patriotically decorated community
center and outside, interacting with the public, chatting and answering questions. In addi-
tion to the child safety identification kits, gift bags with various goodies were handed out
and the community was treated to refreshments, entertainment and karaoke.
