Inglis Hopes to Lower Millage Rate
Remembering the Past
Lost in the shuffle of Chief Dixon s resignation was the original purpose of a spe-
cial meeting last week on Wednesday July 24th, and that was to set the tentative millage rate
for next year s budget. It was agreed to set the rate at “the rollback rate” which is the same
rate as last year, that being 5.0381 for a total of $308,346.00 from the ad valorem taxes.
Commissioner Ann Morin stressed that this is a starting point but the hopes are to decrease
that rate through the budget process. Once a rate is set, it can always be lowered during the
process, but can not be raised. The commission also voted to remove the storm water assess-
ment fee which is fifty-four ($54) dollars per year. The first public budget hearing is set for
August 14th at 6 pm.
Man accused of committing crimes in three counties
Kyle Lee Chunn, 22, 3200 E. Dove Ct., Inverness, was arrested by the Citrus Coun-
ty Sheriff s office, July 26, on three warrants/capiases. He was arrested at the
Marion Country Jail and taken to the Citrus County Detention Facility where
he was booked in on the charges: grand theft $300 or more, but less than
$5,000 (no bond); lewd and lascivious battery of a child 12 years of age, but
less than 16 years of age (no bond) and violation of probation (no bond).
According to Lindsay Blair, Public Information Specialist with the
sheriff s office, “Chunn has had escapades in Hernando and Marion counties,
as well.”

Chunn had been arrested on May 30 by the Marion County Sheriff s
Office, charged with residential burglary, grand theft ($300 or more, but less than $5,000),
