Veterans Advisory Board Welcomes New Members
Citrus County Veteran Services would like to congratulate its five new members
appointed to the Citrus County Veterans Advisory Board. The new members are Chair-
man, John Myers, Vice Chairman, Walter "Bud" Osborn, members Douglas Gordon, Grover
Lewis and Walter Mielcarek.
The Advisory Board meets the 2nd Thursday of every month at 3:30 pm in the
Citrus County Resource Center, located at 2804 W Marc Knighton Court in Lecanto. The
public is invited to attend. The board would like to hear your concerns and suggestions
regarding issues with Veterans Administration or Citrus County Veteran Services.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) teamed with


community members this week to release hungry beetles with an appetite for one plant ­ the
       
invasive air potato vine. The air potato leaf beetle is an environmentally-friendly tool to
combat the exotic plant blanketing native vegetation.
   
Native to Asia, the first Florida release of 16 beetles in 2012 produced thousands of

offspring. Furthermore, the beetles are happy to migrate from public lands, which have been

the primary focus thus far. Evidence of the beetles' presence in Sugarmill Woods' conserva-
