VFW 8698 Honors Our Heroes
The Inglis Gilley Long Osteen VFW Post 8698 paid tribute to Veterans who gave their lives in
the line of duty Monday at noon at Cedars of Lebanon Cemetery. The flags on this quiet out
of the way cemetery hidden in the woods off Highway 19 just north of Inglis were lowered
to half staff Sunday night at dusk and Monday Memorial Day they were raised again at noon.
Commander Ken “Skeeter” Fizz held the short service honoring the sacrifices of so many to
protect our freedoms. Skeeter and his wife Bev put American flags on the 51 veterans graves
in this sacred place and put out 24 flags at the Sand Pond Cemetery north of Lebanon Station.
