times the current population. Levy County residents have appeared to be torn between the
promise of economic prosperity of the new plants and concerns of environmental damage
such as too much pressure on the water supply. There’s also been a concern over the waste
disposal issue. The report may answer some of these questions. To find the report on line,
search on NUREG-1941. It is available on the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s web site.
Also, four public libraries in our area have agreed to make the final Environmental Impact
Statement available to the public: the Citrus County Coastal Region Library, in Crystal
River, the Dunnellon Branch Library, the AF Knotts Library, Yankeetown, and the Bronson
Library. If you want to look at a hard copy, the YT library has verified they have one.
The ZO Saga – The YT Council made its first stab at reviewing the applications for a new
Zoning Officer. There were several very good apps but apparently it was uncertain if the
individuals who applied, some from great distances, understood that the job is only part
time. The Council decided to run local advertisements, and see if more local people were
interested. No deadline has been set to have the position filled.
Nice Gift – The Friends of the WGP surprised the YT Town Council with a $5000 dollar
donation to the town for use toward finishing the elevator at the Preserve’s future educa-
tional center. The elevator is one of the last issues to be completed before the building
qualifies for public use. Good Night and Good Luck
