So, what do you
think? It’s been a full week
since the H1N1 Swine Flu
‘mighty pandemic’ just
started dropping off from be-

today, little mention of it in the news; it came
and went about as fast as the flash paper it
was written on. The question of the day: is
‘instant news’ a good thing?
I know people who are news fanat-
ics. They are tuned in every waking moment.
I’ve visited their houses when every room
has a television turned on and tuned in. I’ve
even been visiting when the news upstages
my real-life attempts at real-life conversations.
I’ve left shaking my head and muttering to
myself ‘how rude’ too.
Other people are online news devo-
tees. There are at least two people I know
that spend inordinate amounts of time check-
ing the Internet for every scrap of informa-
tion about a particular issue. One person has
