The Board of County Commissioners heard County Administrator Brad Thorpe’s
final budget analysis presentation Tuesday during the regular meeting of the BOCC. This
was the sixth presentation submitted to the Board over the last three months, breaking down
each part of the budget by categories. Eight budget functions have been presented including:
Budget Overview, Culture & Recreation, Human Services, Economic Environment,
Transportation, Public Safety, Physical Environment, General Government Services.
Tuesday’s presentation on General Government Services, gave the Board an over-
view of all the Administrative Costs within the BOCC. This represents $34,483,658 of the
overall $231,773,880 budget. Within this category are Mandatory Property Taxes, Property
Taxes and User Fees.
Here are some key dates for upcoming BOCC meetings concerning the budget:

Traffic will be slow through the intersection of Meadowcrest Boulevard and State
Road 44 in Crystal River as workers install poles for a new traffic signal. There will be

temporary lane closures and traffic shifts through the work area starting on Tuesday, April 2

through Wednesday, April 3. Meadowcrest is located east of Crystal River and is bordered
by S.R. 44 and County Road 486. The light is on the south side of Meadowcrest on S.R. 44,

Save Our Waters Week 2013 Essay Contest

The Citrus 20/20 Save Our Waters Week Committee’s 2013 essay contest has be-

awarded to the first and second place winners at the middle and high school level. Winners

Manatee Sanctuary Period May Be Extended

 


Due to the uncertainty of weather predictions and manatee population dynamics in

the upcoming week, the US Fish and Wildlife Service will extend the Manatee Sanctuary

period for the Kings Spring, Magnolia Springs and Idiot’s Delight (Three Sisters Springs)
 
