A couple of weeks ago the
wife and I took the kids to Ver-
mont for some overdue face time
with relatives. These particular
relatives happen to live at the
foot of Killington Mountain. For
those of you that don't know, Killington is
one of the best skiing resorts east of the Mis-
sissippi. We're fortunate to have this snowy
oasis to land on when we're in need of re-
spite.
Once upon a time I was quite a skiing fa-
natic. I've been skiing all over the country
and Killington is fabulous. However, as some-
one who can appreciate the nuances of as-
cending `center of gravity' issues (read:fat)
and the pleasure of `bone grinding on bone'
sensations, my reckless days of youth and
double diamond skiing are over.
Not so my younger fit and trim wife and pack
of teenagers that follow in her wake. At the
bottom of a towering white hill of freshly fallen
snow, I notice (or imagine) dull aching in my
knees and lower back, they on the other hand
are running for the rental hut lest someone
else get one chairlift seat ahead of them.
At midday our mixed group parted ways
