SMH...
Inglis, Really?
With Mike Moore
There is an Internet
shorthand that reads SMH. It
is usually placed after a short
comment to add emphasis. It
means, “shake my head,” as
in a condescending way, or
in disbelief. For example, “I
can’t believe she had the nerve to wear
those shoes with that skirt...smh.î “SMH”
is currently a very popular way of saying,
in writing, are you kidding me? Which
brings me to my point.
For better or worse, I am not an
Inglis resident. But relatives are, and that
takes me into Inglis, on personal business,
on a semi-regular basis. Yesterday was the
first time I ve been in Inglis for a while,
and as I drove through town, I couldn’t be-
lieve what I was seeing - battle lines drawn
in signage over the Inglis Police Depart-
ment? I felt as though I were running a
gauntlet.
