referendum to relinquish
emergency services to Levy Co.

Voters in the town of inglis turned
out Tuesday to cast their ballots in the gen-
eral election for three commission seats
and seven amendments to the town of inglis
charter. Amendment three proposed on the
ballot was titled “Inglis charter amendment
requiring commission to transfer assets of
emergency services to Levy County”. The
ballot summary proposed to voters stated
“all Inglis police and fire department func-
tions and assets would be transferred to
and managed by Levy county, no later than
September 30th, 2013”.
In a 232 to 167 vote, town of
Inglis citizens elected to allow amendment
three to pass, effectively allowing the town
of Inglis commission to set in motion the
dissolution of both police and fire services.
