Remembering the Past
week. There are four relay teams with 2 or 3 members (11 Ruckers for 11 men killed) with
each team alternating 12 mile runs. Each of the eleven runners carried a folded American
flag in their backpack with the name of one of the eleven who died on it. (the one s not
named yet held a blank label until the names are released.) From Hulbert Field running

"What's Coming" to Citrus County"
Citrus County staff members often receive questions in regard to new construction
or businesses coming to the county. This is an update on the newly received permit requests
and/or issued permits for large commercial projects received by the Planning & Develop-
ment Department:
D & D ENTERPRISES - permit application for 4,000 sq. ft. storage building to service an
existing furniture store at 2157 N. Lecanto Hwy.
GOOD COUNSEL CAMP - permit application to reconstruct a 5,497 sq. ft. assembly hall
destroyed by fire at 8888 E. Gobbler Dr. in Floral City.
ASPEN DENTAL OFFICE - permit application for 3,750 sq ft shell building for a future
Aspen Dental Office at the Citrus Center Shopping Plaza between McDonalds and a bank
adjacent to State Rd. 44 in Inverness.
YMCA - site development permit application to allow clearing, grading, parking, stormwa-
ter, water/sewer, landscaping and irrigation at proposed site on County Rd. 486 in Lecanto.

In the early morning, March 13, 1993 "The Storm of the Century" rolled into the Nature Coast
flooding places that many people had never seen flooded. The lower west end of Yankeetown
Shrimp Landing
received 48 inches of water from the Gulf in 17 minutes catching people totally off guard and
in the dark. This photo is in the upper end of Yankeetown on the corner of Riverside Drive
and Jeffrey Lane. Rescued people were brought up 56 St by boat, docking at the Yankeetown

scary stories but no deaths locally. People with stilt homes in the lower end of Yankeetown
were suddenly popular and many opened their homes to those flooded. Power was out for an
