The national weather service in Ruskin issued a tornado warning for: northwestern
Newscaster by the Numbers:
Sumter county, Southern Citrus county, and Northern Hernando county last Thursday.
At 220 pm est, last Thursday the public reported a tornado near Chassahowitzka, or

8 miles southwest of Homosassa springs, moving east at 40 mph. The tornado was predicted
to be near, Chassahowitzka. In addition to the tornado, this storm was capable of producing

large hail and widespread damaging winds.
Citrus Sheriff Dept. spokesperson Gail Tierney said there were no confirmed tor-
nado touchdowns anywhere in the county on Thursday.
The Public Relations Officer for Marion County said there were weather-related
cancellations for Marion County public schools Thursday. All high school activities in Mar-
ion County public schools were cancelled Thursday evening. All evening classes at CTAE
(Community Technical and Adult Education) in Ocala were cancelled Thursday, including
GED and ESOL classes. Some buses were delayed Thursday afternoon due to the severe
weather. FCAT testing was interrupted Thursday by the severe weather but resumed Friday,
thanks to state permission.
Woody Miley on Magnolia Ave in Yankeetown was up to his ankles in standing water last week
relocating water with a push broom over a small rise that kept the water standing in his yard.
