January unemployment in
Citrus, Levy, Marion
From CLM Workforce
Joblessness for Citrus, Levy and
Marion counties during the month of Janu-
ary rose slightly since the end of 2010, but
remains under 14 percent for the second
consecutive month, according to today’s
release of unemployment data from the
Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation
(AWI).
Workforce Connection’s three-
county region posted a 13.8 percent un-
employment rate, up 0.2 percent since De-
cember 2010 but down 0.2 percent over the
year.
Kathleen Woodring, chief oper-
ating officer for Workforce Connection,
said that while the region continues to ex-
perience slight fluctuations from month to
month, the long-term trend is positive, with
unemployment down 0.2 percent over the
year.
Woodring added that January’s
numbers reflect seasonal employment
when those hired over the holidays were let
go.
