Yankeetown School contributes almost 1,000 food items to food bank!
A school-wide contest was held at Yankeetown School from Oct. 17 through Nov.
11. Classrooms competed to gather the most canned or boxed goods to donate to the RABAC
(Recreation Advisory Board Activities Committee) Food Bank. The winning classroom was
Mrs. Mary Schlachterís 3rd/4th-grade class, which collected 189 items of non-perishable
food. The effort by the school and students resulted in a contribution of almost 1,000 food
items to the food bank!
YTS cafeteria staff treats students to delicious Thanksgiving lunch
As always, the cafeteria staff at Yankeetown School provided students with a
nourishing and delicious pre-Thanksgiving lunch before students enjoyed a break from the
school routine for the holiday. Lunch consisted of turkey with dressing, gravy, mashed pota-
toes, green beans, rolls and candied sweet potatos, capped-off with corn pudding, and mixed
fruit with strawberries. The cafeteria staff includes Marianne Sedor, Debra Carter, Tina My-
ers, Lisa Brown, and Jennifer Hurtado.

The Levy County Sheriff s Office Drug Task Force confirmed reports of heavy
traffic to a 10091 NW 40th Ave. Chiefland residence, which is located directly across the
street from the St. John Evangelist Catholic Church. They initiated an investigation into the
activities at the residence. Undercover agents made drug purchases at the residence from

there were guns inside the residence, and threats had been made to shoot law enforcement.
