5K Run Earns $5,000 for YMCA
In November, 186 athletes participated in Crystal River’s 4th annual Kings Bay
5K. The event, developed by Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center and coordinated by
Citrus Road Runners, raised $5000 to benefit YMCA of the Suncoast-Citrus County Pro-
gram Branch.
“We love hosting healthy activities while benefiting organizations that give back to
our residents,” said Dorothy Pernu, event coordinator.
In response to the donation, Joanna Castle, YMCA executive director, said, “Thank
you again for naming YMCA the beneficiary of this year s event. The $5000 will help us
tremendously with this year’s scholarship expenses.”
The men’s overall winner was Geremy Dewitt of Crystal River. The master men’s
overall winner was Thom Neal of Crystal River. The women s overall winner was Lza Hash
of Inglis. The master women s overall winner was Kat Matuszko of Port Richey.
