Friends of the Crystal River State Park entered a beautiful float in this year’s Crystal River
Christmas Parade. Volunteers put in thousands of hours of time to help keep the park up and
running along with dedicated state employees. It is a wonderful place to spend time educating
the public while preserving local history if you are looking for a place to volunteer. You will be

Santa and his Mrs. made the grand appearance on the Rotary Club float Saturday night to
the delight of hundreds, maybe thousands of all ages, who lined Hwy 19 from NE 3rd to
Port Paradise Rd for the annual Crystal River Christmas Parade. 2 days ahead of time chairs,
vehicles and utility trailers starting lining the parade route to assure a good view and access
to all the candy passed out by participants. The holiday spirit was captured with dozens of
floats, marching units, twinkling lights and Christmas music in the one and a half hour parade
presented by the Chamber and the City of Crystal River. In all my years of viewing the parade,
this years has to be one of the best. Congratulations to each entrant who added to the holiday
