station were to become a county station there would be no reason for Inglis to provide town
funding for a county station. 3. There are significantly divergent capabilities in personnel,
training, facilities, cultures and equipment between the individual Fire Rescue operations.
4. The three stations already have support agreements. Each station takes care of its own
areas of responsibility unless support is needed on significant events.” Inglis Fire/Rescue
officers will not pursue a merger unless directed by the Inglis Town Commission . To read

Mayor Clary said there is more discussion to come and many unanswered ques-
tions. Clary said that an estimated $40 per year special assessment would be imposed if
Yankeetown joins. (see page 11, Yankeetown Mayor’s Report)
Monday night representatives of the Inglis Fire/Rescue met with the Levy County
Director of Public Safety David Knowles and the Inglis Fire Commissioner liaison Sally
Price. Results of the meeting: Merger of the three Fire Rescue stations does not seem viable
at this time, however, there does seem to be potential benefits of Inglis Fire Rescue becom-
ing a Levy County Fire Rescue Station. The decision was made to ask the Inglis Town Com-
mission to approve a motion for the Inglis Fire Chief to enter discussions with the county to
become a Levy County Fire Rescue Station. The results of the discussion are to be returned
to the Inglis Town Commission at a later date.
Commissioner Price said some of the advantages of this move would be a larger
pool of fire rescue resources; standardization of equipment and purchases; and operational
efficiencies.

ings! The hardware store recently moved into the former Dollar General store in the same
shopping plaza, in order to merge the hardware store with its homeware/gift store, Buddy &
Fred’s II. Great appreciation goes to Fred Clacher for keeping the contestants dry and giving
the younger contestants a safer place for their paintings!
Much time, talent and imagination went into the paintings. During the contest, the
windows remain anonymous, the only identifying mark being its number. The judges arrive
after the paintings are completed and make their decisions based on the window painting
numbers that are separated into each of the five age categories, ages 3-5, 6-8, 9-11, 12-14
and 15 and older. Each group had a first-place, second-place and third-place winner. The
judges had the option of choosing an honorable mention in each age group. The paintings
were so good, the judges said, that the judging was difficult, and they chose an honorable
mention painting in each age group! The judges were Betsy Webb and Linda Long, who
were each given a bouquet of flowers from Food Ranch in appreciation of their effort. The
winners in each category were awarded a cash prize, $50 to first-place winners, $25 to
second-place winners and $10 to third-place winners. A list of the painters is now displayed
at Food Ranch for customers to view the colorful display and see who the artists are.
