A one-vehicle traffic crash  Inverness on N.
al Plaza, around 7:52 a.m., Nov. 19, took the life of an 82 year-old Lake Crystal, Minnesota
man, Jerome Donald Kjeldahl.
According to the Citrus County Sheriff s Office: Mr. Kjeldahl was driving north
in a 2010 GMC truck on N. Florida Ave. A witness stated that Mr. Kjeldahl slowed for the
traffic signal and inexplicably accelerated, veering to the right, and struck a utility pole. No
acceleration or braking marks were found at the scene. The vehicle struck the curb, which
caused it to leave the roadway, “airborne,” leaving no tracks from the curb to the concrete
traffic signal pole, which the truck struck 19 inches above ground level with its right front.
The right front tire broke loose and traveled 52 feet north of the crash. The rim
was bent from the curbing and scuffed from the pole. The truck rotated approximately 90
degrees clockwise, with the rear wheels on the curb, causing a 6 feet sideways scuff on the
curb. The concrete pole, which was broken, fell on top of the vehicle. The base of the pole
