Dunnellon's Annual Victorian Holiday
Thousands of twinkling holiday lights will once again adorn the shops of Dun-
nellon’s Historic Village during their 11th Annual Victorian Holiday Festival which takes
place on Saturday, November 27 from 5 to 9 p.m. This years event will again feature horse
drawn sleigh rides with the magnificent draft horses of Ocala Carriage and Tours. Each of
the Historic Village Shops will be hosting musical entertainment and will also be providing
homemade refreshments. Food vendors will be on hand to satisfy the more hearty appe-
tites. Local Churches and organizations are urged to participate in this years “Community

A Florida Christmas sponsored by RABAC
The Inglis area Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 11th, 2010
at 4pm. The theme this year will be “A Florida Christmas”. Line up will be at 3pm in the
field in front of Food Ranch and follow the same path as years past to end up at Yankeetown
School. This year prizes will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd for Walking Units, Floats and Bands. We
have added two new categories this year as well; Decorated Bicycles for kids 15 and under
and Decorated Off Road Vehicles (go carts, golf carts, dirt bikes and ATV’s) for ages 16 and
up will also be judged for 1st, 2nd, and 3rdplaces. Prizes will be handed out at the Christ-

"Jack" Sparks passed on November 17, 2010 leaving behind a legacy for all the
lives he touched during his time on earth. Born May 13, 1930 in Sault Ste. Marie Michi-
gan, Jack advanced to a Tribal Elder of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of the Chippewa Indians.
A master carpenter and craftsman and working the Great Lakes, Jack headed to Tarpon
Springs and was the first shrimper to come to Yankeetown from Ozona FL on his shrimp
boat the Queenie when he docked at Wally Howe’s Gold Mine Marina in the early 60’s.
All his kids were as at home on the water as they were in town. Jack
worked, played and enjoyed life like there was no tomorrow. He was a people person and
attracted young and old. Jack could tell a good story, most of which he lived, and enjoyed
sharing these tales with anyone who would listen. He was colorful character and left a
mark on the history of Yankeetown and the lives of the children he raised. Those lucky
enough to be a part of his life along with their offspring were Scott Sparks, Peggy Sparks
Burdette, Dale Lamoreaux, Robin Sparks Gamberbella (deceased), Jack Thomas Sparks,
Shane Sparks, Linda Meckelburg Baumeister, David Paul Meckelburg (deceased) Mark
Meckelburg, Dean and Scott Schafer.
Suwannee River Clean Up
On December 4th, the last section of the Great Suwannee River Clean-up will
need volunteer assistance from the Tri-County area. December 4th from 10am-3pm, vol-
unteers will give back to the River that brings so much to our communities. Garbage bags,
litter grabbers, boat flags, and a great t-shirt will be supplied for the volunteers. Boaters,
paddlers, and folks that can lend a hand can sign-up to volunteer by calling the Refuge
Ranger at 352/493-0238, extension 223.
