"Be a Santa to a Senior" Brightens the Holidays
Lecanto - Now in its fourth year, a national non-profit program that has brightened the lives of
hundreds of thousands of older adults with gifts and companionship is being organized
locally for the first time this year. The "Be a Santa to a Senior" program, sponsored by Home
Instead Senior Care, provides presents to seniors who otherwise might not be remembered
this holiday season.
Donation drop boxes are available to accept gift items for seniors. Drop boxes are located
at Division of Community Support Services, 2804 Marc Knighton Ct. and Home Instead
Senior Care, 3770 West Gulf To Lake Hwy. in Lecanto and Citrus County Speedway in Inv-
erness. Gift ideas may include functional clothing such as slippers, socks or gloves, toiletry
and personal care items, stationery and stamps or pre-paid phone cards.
Wrapping parties are scheduled for the week of December 10. Deliveries will take place the
week of December 17 through December 21. Anyone interested in wrapping gifts can contact
Carolyn Quintanilla at (342) 249-1257. Businesses, churches and other groups and organiza-
tions are encouraged to contact the local Home Instead Senior Care office about adopting
groups of seniors.
