Citrus Youth Dies in Crash
Shortly after five p.m. Monday a single vehicle accident took the life of 20 year
old Benjamin Brandon Ingersoll of Inverness. The Citrus County sheriff department inves-
tigated the accident on E. Vine St. just west of Hickory Rd.
The crash report stated that a witness said Ingersoll was thrown from the vehicle
after trying to round a high sweeping curve west bound at a high rate of speed, when it went
out of control and overturned. The driver was transported to Citrus Memorial Hospital, by
Nature Coast EMS where he died from injuries about 5:44 pm.
Inglis Man charged with disorderly conduct
An Inglis man was arrested by the Inglis Police Department, Oct. 7, charged with
disorderly conduct. According to the arrest report, Chris Obry, 20, of Park St., was in the
parking lot of the Kangaroo gas station, cursing people, threatening to fight them and “gen-
erally upsetting customers,” the report stated. The officer asked the store clerk if she would
like Obry removed from the property, and she replied that she would. The officer escorted
Obry to the edge of the property, and he continued yelling at the officer, customers and other
police officers, cursing “in an obscene and profane manner,” the report stated, causing a
breach of peace. Obry was arrested on the charge and transported to the Levy County Jail.
Inglis Man receives Three citations
An Inglis man was issued three citations by the Inglis Police Department, Oct.
17, after an officer conducted a traffic stop on his yellow Honda motorcycle in the parking
lot of the withlacoochee Plaza because his vehicle did not have a tag on it. Ricky Daniel
Depue, 57, of Lori St., Inglis, also had no registration of the vehicle. The officer confirmed
that Depue did not have the proper endorsement for operating a motorcycle on his driver’s

That area today is for Progress Energy line training. The property is desig-

Inglis Terminal. (Try the initials for a grin.) The track came through Palm Point
along the river bank past the old Commissary (store and post office) on S Inglis Ave
along Lee Terrace and had a small barge port at the curve in the river east of the old
drying plant.
The railroad cars could drop the material out the bottom into barges pulled
up in the cut that can still be seen today. The barges took the material down river
past Port Inglis Island and out to an area called the 5 Fathom Pool. Here the material
was transferred to ocean going steamers for a journey to Europe. World War I shut
down the shipping lanes, and ended the era.
