Staying Safe
For Halloween
From Citrus County Sheriff Dept.
Halloween and fall festivals pres-
ent opportunities to have a fun time by
dressing in costumes, trick-or-treating and
attending parties - and are also times to fo-
cus on safety.
Before you take the kids trick-or-
treating, visit the Sheriff s Office website
at www.sheriffcitrus.org for the most up-
to-date information about registered sexual
predators and offenders living in Citrus
County - of which there are currently 247
in the area. Click on the Sexual Offender
Information tab and search the list by first
or last name, zip code or other criteria. Pho-
tographs of the offenders also are posted.
Those without Internet access may obtain a
copy of the same list at the Sheriff’s Opera-
tions Center in downtown Inverness or any
of the agency’s three community resource
centers.
Prior to Halloween night, the CC-
SO’s Sexual Predator Unit plans on con-
ducting notifications in all the neighbor-
hoods where the county’s registered sexual
predators live. Also, be on the lookout for
posters featuring the names, addresses and
photos of all the county’s registered sexual
predators and offenders on display in Citrus
County’s leading box stores. An increased
number of deputies will be patrolling the
