Diane Toto, founder of the We
Care Food Pantry in Homosassa, and one
of the founders of Feed Citrus County,Inc.,
wants to clear up a misconception that food
distributed to those in need will no lon-
ger be free to the public, once Feed Citrus
County, a centralized food distribution fa-
cility, is up and running toward the end of
next year. Toto stressed that the food will
continue to be free to those in need, just as
it is now.
Toto says the confusion arose
when one of the local food banks con-
plained about the fees they will be charged
for food they receive from the upcoming
centralized food bank - $100 per year and
$.18 per pound of food. “This is a nominal,
shared maintenance fee that will be used to
run the new non-profit facility.” explained
Toto.
