David James Barrie, 43,

by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, Jan . 3, charged with misdemeanor bat-

tery. His bond was set at $500. According to the sheriff's Office the incident

occurred at Griff's Bar in Inverness just before midnight on Jan. 2.
Three witnesses stated that Barrie was arguing with a woman neither

of them knew, at the same time the victim was trying to leave by way of the


back door. They said that Barrie turned and punched the victim in the side of

his face, which knocked him to the ground. The witnesses said the victim was unconscious

for approximately two minutes. All three witnesses told the deputy that the attack was

completely unprovoked, that Barrie and the victim had no interaction prior to the attack.
