Former Deputy Arrested by FDLE (June, 2012)
Former Citrus County deputy sheriff Lynn Tabb, 48, was arrested, June 1, by the
Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) on an active 5th Judicial Circuit warrant
charging him with two counts of sexual battery on a child older than 12 years of age. Ac-
companied by his attorney, Tabb turned himself in to Sumter County authorities.
Veteran Driver Killed At Citrus Speedway (July, 2012)
On Saturday, at approximately 9:50 p.m., a driver was killed during a sanctioned
racing event at the Citrus County Speedway located at 3600 S. Florida Ave. in Invernes.
During a special figure-8 race of school buses, a green bus overturned, landing on its roof.
The driver, identified as Charles “Chick” Whitehead, 62, of Ocala, was pronounced dead
at the scene. When Citrus Sheriff Fire Rescue personnel extricated him from the wreck,
Whitehead was still in the driver s seat, restrained by his racing safety harness.
Man attempts to discredit Levy sheriff candidate (August, 2012)
An Archer man who attempted to discredit candidate Bobby McCallum in the
Levy County Sheriff race, just before the Aug. 14 Primary Election, found himself on the
wrong side of the law, Aug. 10. The complaint was filed before U.S. Magistrate Judge Joel
B. Toomey and accuses 54 year-old Rodney Hyden of knowingly possessing greater than
five kilograms of cocaine (a Schedule II controlled substance), with intent to distribute. Mc-
Callum, won the Aug. 14 Republican Primary Election & the Nov. General Election.
